Privacy Policy

This policy describes what information Clueless collects when you use the app, how it's used, and who it's shared with. We've tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email [CONTACT EMAIL].

What we collect

Information you provide

• Trivia prompts and generated games. When you generate a trivia game, the topic or prompt you enter is sent to third-party AI service providers to generate the questions. The resulting game — your prompt, the questions, and the answers — is stored on our servers so you can play it later, share it, and so we can feature or redistribute it within the app (see "How we use generated content" below).
• Subscription purchase information. If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment and shares limited transaction information with us (an anonymized transaction identifier, subscription status, renewal status). We never see your payment card, Apple ID password, or full Apple ID.

Information collected automatically

• Gameplay data. Games you've generated, scores, and game history are stored on our servers and tied to a device identifier so you can access them across sessions.
• Analytics. We use PostHog (PostHog Cloud, US region) to understand how the app is used — which screens are visited, which features are tapped, crashes, and performance. PostHog collects a randomly generated identifier, device type, OS version, app version, and event data. We do not use PostHog session replay. PostHog's privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
• Technical data on shared links. When someone opens a game you've shared, our server receives a request that includes an IP address and standard HTTP headers. We use this for abuse prevention and basic traffic analytics.

What we don't collect

We don't currently collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, location, photos, or any other personally identifying information. If this changes in the future, we'll update this policy and notify you in the app.

How we use generated content

Trivia games you create may be:

• Stored on our servers indefinitely.
• Made accessible to anyone who has the share link.
• Featured within the app (for example, in a "Trending" or curated section).
• Used to improve the app, including evaluating and tuning AI prompts.

Don't enter anything in a prompt that you wouldn't want to be public.

Third parties

• AI service providers. Your prompts and generated games are sent to third-party AI providers, which currently include Google Gemini and OpenRouter (which routes to various downstream inference providers). The specific providers used may change over time. Some providers retain prompts briefly for abuse prevention.

We do not sell your data. We do not share data with advertisers.

Sharing games

Games you share via URL are accessible to anyone who has the link. The link itself is the access credential — there is no additional authentication. If you don't want a game to be publicly accessible, don't share the link.

Data retention

• Games and scores are retained as long as you have the app installed and use it. We may delete games associated with devices that haven't been active for 12+ months.
• Analytics data is retained according to PostHog's default settings.
• Subscription records are retained as long as required by tax and accounting law.

Your choices

• Stop using the app. Uninstalling removes the app from your device. To also delete server-side data, email [CONTACT EMAIL] and include your device identifier (Settings → About in the app).
• Manage your subscription. Open the App Store app → tap your profile → Subscriptions.

Children

Clueless is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, contact us and we'll delete any associated data.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and surface the changes in the app before they take effect.
